There is a new web interface to Talkback (instructions) that lets you get stack traces from Talkback reports you send. Firefox nightlies on Linux include Talkback. Firefox nightlies on Windows don't include Talkback yet, so test crashes on Windows with Seamonkey nightlies instead.
MOZILLA_1_7_BRANCH has been created, but there are no branch builds yet. Firefox 0.9 and 1.0 will be based on the Mozilla 1.7 branch.

Having the shortcut for the download manager being the same as the shortcut for undo seems stupid, now you’ll have people wondering why they can’t bring up the download manager, and it turns out that the reason is that they’re in a text field.

Um… Dave… Ctrl-Z is undo, not Ctrl-Y.

Yeah, Ctrl-Y is “redo”. But I agree that it’s not so great. On the other hand, there are other shortcuts that don’t work while you’re in a text box, like Ctrl-R for “reload”, Ctrl-H for “history”, or Ctrl-B for “bookmarks”. That last one does “back” instead. Ugh.

There have been a lot of bugs submitted for this kind of “problem”, and they’ve almost all been marked dups of 72352.

But this is so silly! I almost wrote on that bugzill a report that people should be more concerned about their weight problems (chubby fingers) than filing bugzilla posts! jesus- if you cant hit the right keys and you call yourself a tech then what has the world come to?!

But this isn’t a dup of 72352 – the shortcut for redo (ctrl-Y) applies to all platforms whereas emacs keybindings only apply to some platforms.
In a decently designed user interface tasks should have distinct shortcut keys when these tasks can be performed in the same window. Please pick a consistent key that can always bring up the downloads window – ctrl-E did this well… if that’s no good why not use numbers like ctrl-2

Ctrl-Y! Aw man, now I really have to stretch my finger across the keyboard.

My guess is Ben was trying to free up Ctrl+E for something more important, such as Search.
Do you open the download manager manually often? I do, and I think it’s because there’s something wrong with the download manager, but I’m not sure what it is.

Rereading the bug, I see that Ben didn’t like Ctrl+E because it was next to two datalossy shortcuts, Ctrl+W (close window) and Ctrl+R (reload).

Why not make shortcuts configurable via hidden prefs?

I think – and I can be wrong – CTRL+E will be dedicated to Extension UI.
