I am an avid fan of Firefox and use it as my principle web browswer however, I wish I had the code skills so that I could help out on the way Firefox integrates with Adobe PDF. Everytime that I open a PDF in Firefox it is gameover, the browser has a meltdown.
Hopefully some superstar coder will resolve this issue.

On my PC Moox’s M3 Builds load the Adobe PDF Plugin much faster than the official builds (no idea why this is so)
setting the firefox priority to low helps too

I haven’t had a crash for Firefox, when I attempt to open a .pdf. There are a couple things you could do, to prevent this. One is to make sure that when you click on a .pdf, it gets open in a seperate window (I.E. not within Firefox, but within the acrobat program itself.)
Another thing to try is to download a PDF speedup program. Overall it improves the performance of opening .PDFs on slower machines….

I thought a fix was checked in yesterday (and it is off the blockers list), but don’t see it on the list of fixes in this nightly.

I had acrobat blocking my browser for over a minute for a long time, then came http://www.tnk-bootblock.co.uk/prods/misc/index.php
the acrobat reader speed up, and everything is fast as expected. Its some of the plugins of the reader that is blocking and the speedup removes the reference to it. Give it a spin

I noticed with the nightly builds a folder in the start menu is created even when I uncheck “In my Start Menu Programs folder” Just a minor annoyance but thought I’d mention it anyway.

i had the pdf problem too. downgraded to acrobat reader 5.0 which is faster anyway. no problems anymore.

Acrobat loads much faster if you simply move all the plugins from “C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 6.0\Reader\plug_ins” except EWH32.api, printme.api, and Search.api into “C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 6.0\Reader\Optional”.

testboy, be extremely careful when using http://www.oldversion.com. The site links to very old versions of mIRC without warning you about known security holes. Same with Winamp and Adobe Acrobat. If you download a version of Winamp or Acrobat that old, you’re almost certainly exposing yourself to known buffer overflows that can be exploited by malicious MP3s or PDFs. The only exception is if Nullsoft or Adobe has been backporting security fixes to previous major versions, and I wouldn’t expect them to do that.
What’s wrong with Winamp 5 (with modern skin support disabled), anyway?
