Can anyone tell me if i myself can set the maxVersion of the extensions to 1.5.0.* in about:config? And will this interfere with later installs/upgrades? Currently using Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.2; en-US; rv:1.8b5) Gecko/20051018 Firefox/1.4.1
Extensions (enabled: 10, disabled: 2):
* ChatZilla 0.9.68.5.1
* Content Holder 0.2.2005042201
* Flashblock 1.3.3
* Forecastfox 0.8.2.3
* InfoLister 0.9b
* Reporter 1.8b5
* Restart Firefox 0.3.1
* Tabbrowser Extensions 1.14.2005092501
* Tabbrowser Extensions:Tab Numbering Module 1.0.2004111201 (disabled)
* Talkback 1.4.1
* Text Link 1.3.2005070402 (disabled)
* Translate 0.6.0.8
and it seems somewhat unstable (occational freeze, and not loading pages properly)….Do i have to downgrade if i want to have all my extensions working properly? Or can i install latest nightly (and adjust max version myself?)….

From the latest updates starting from 1.4.1 FF looks more and more like alfa not beta or RC.
Latest update scared me to death – all menus has (UNDEFINED) right to the name.
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.8b5) Gecko/20051023 Firefox/1.5
Actually feeling that FF is getting more and more stable left me after the version got changed to 1.4 – huge memory leaks, extension compatability issues, crashes and update problems that not every time ends up with success.

This build 23/10:when you go to “advanced configuration”(whatever) by using about:config URL and go and filter for IDN you see blacklisted chars that is apparently wrong string and the buffer is either not initialized or pointing to wrong place. Just to let you know, I think always reproducible somebody could submit it as a bug.

This nightly seems to set the browser into perpetual restart mode on my machine, regardless of new profile or old, safe mode or not.
It also places the text (UNDEFINED) on the rhs of every button and menu!
I switched back to the default update channel and also tried to turn off “Check for updates to …”. None of this worked. I’m now left with a useless installation that keeps bringing up the Software Update dialog whenever I start the browser. The dialogue contains notification of a new version called Firefox (null). I hope this is not phrophetic.
I sent a very brief email about this to Asa Dotzler including a screen shot.
Wonder if anyone else has had the same problem?

Yeah, same here PD. Undefined here, update doesn’t seem to be working (perpetuating the problem). Bloody annoying if you ask me!

tester, are you sure the IDN blacklist string is incorrect? I see a lot of fraction and space characters, which makes sense to me.

I fixed the above mentioned UNDEFINED problem by deleting the “update” folder in the firefox program directory.
Because, apart of the UNDEFINED strings, I noticed an uninstallable update which tried on every launch of firefox to proceed, but never succeeded.
So forcing firefox to re-fetch the update by deleting the folder fixed the problem for me. That was on XP, on Linux I run plain beta2 which works fine.
