2004-10-27 Branch Builds (RC1)
- Fixed: 266221 - Profile migration is broken (since Oct 26 late).
- Since Oct 26: 263844 - Window.close() not working on new windows opened into tabs.
This is a fake release candidate: it was made knowing that it would not be identical to 1.0 (and not just in the version number). The remaining 1.0 blockers are not very exciting. They are mostly version number changes, obscure crashes, and localization changes.
Because of the fix for bug 266221, these builds will not automatically update when Firefox 1.0 comes out. If you install 1.0 RC1 for friends, be sure to tell them to upgrade when 1.0 comes out, in case there are security fixes between now and Firefox 1.0.

Are you planning to fix a “scolling-bug” when some pages with large background images scrolls with 100% cpu usage?
It’s the only thing that is annoying enough to consider switching to another browser.
Thank you.

Why does it not contain the new widgets for Mac OS X?

I’m feeling your pain. Try bungie.net… that site runs terrible. It makes the forums useless.

When are tweakers going to catch up with Firefox 1.0? The mirrors to their sites (e.g. http://texturizer.net/firefox/) have yet to update to the modifications to directory structure.
I used to bring tweaks together myself for 0.9.3 and below, but with the new releases, profile directories have been switched around and many of the tweaks that worked fine with Firefox and Phoenix and Firebird simply stopped working.
It takes a lot of time to tweak using about:config – the userContent.css, userChrome.css, and user.js modifications made life a lot easier =)

As I explained in my blog post, I had to make some compromises to get the widgets to look good. They don’t play nicely on sites that apply their own CSS to form widgets.

If you want an easy way to apply Kevin’s widgets, check out Firefoxy: http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/16118

Well, Ben wrote he would check it in if it would be in a patchable form. The CSS problems existed in the old implementation as well, IIRC.
amake: I will try it the next time I install a newer version.

Does anyone else use Blackboard 6.1.5? Here is what Firefox (RC1) shows,

And here is what it is supposed to look like,

Any thoughts? Thanks.

Blackboard 6.1.5 Build 5 looks great in Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.3) Gecko/20041026 Firefox/1.0
