Import Bookmarklets

You can add a bunch of bookmarklets at once by importing one of these files. All the files are in "Netscape 4 bookmarks file format", which most browsers can import. Some minor categories of bookmarklets, such as "site-specific bookmarklets", are not included in these files.

Mozilla Firefox

  1. Save bookmarklets-moz.html
  2. Bookmarks, Manage Bookmarks.
  3. File, Import.
  4. Select the file.
  5. Put the imported folder "Bookmarklets for Mozilla" (or its contents) in your bookmarks toolbar folder.

Then, drag the bookmarklets you use most often directly to your personal toolbar.

Internet Explorer

  1. Save bookmarklets-ie.html. When you save, select "HTML only" instead of "Complete".
  2. File, Import and Export.
  3. Select "Import Favorites".
  4. Select "Import from a File or Address".
  5. Click "Browse..." and select the file.
  6. Select "Links" as the folder to import into.

Then, drag the bookmarklets you use most often directly to your personal toolbar.

Opera 7

I don't recommend importing bookmarklets in Opera. Opera misparses the Netscape bookmarks files in several ways and crashes when browsing importing bookmarks. But if you really want to, bookmarklets-op7.html is available.

Netscape 4

  1. Save bookmarklets-ns4.html.
  2. Ctrl+B
  3. File, Import and select the file.

You should be aware of a Netscape 4 bug: bookmarklets don't work from subfolders of the personal toolbar. They work from the personal toolbar itself and from the bookmarks menu.

Other browsers

  1. Save bookmarklets-all.html.
  2. You have to figure out the rest.
