2004-04-17 Trunk builds
Seamonkey (but not Firefox) now has "File > Upload File..." for FTP upload. There was a Firefox checkin related to this change, but I think there's still no way to upload files to FTP using Firefox.

It seems that a lot of checkins are breaking things nowadays. I have not been able to install extensions (since yesterday) or sign into forums (for 2 or 3 days now). Is this because of the trunk reopening for 1.8a checkins?
April 18th, 2004 at 12:50 am
Yes. Lots of risky changes are going in now, because the beginning of a milestone cycle is a good time to make risky changes.
I haven’t seen any other reports of not being able to sign into forums. Do you know if it’s already been reported in Bugzilla? What are the URLs of the forums? What happens when you try to log in? Can you log into other sites?

Are printing and print preview broken, or is it just me?
April 18th, 2004 at 1:01 am
I’m using Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8a) Gecko/20040417 Firefox/0.8.0+

My printer spits out a blank page whenever I try to print a webpage, and print preview is just dark gray.

Are these trunk builds rather than the branch builds Firefox 0.9 and 1.0 will be based off then?
April 18th, 2004 at 4:57 am
Yes. I’m only posting about trunk builds for now.
There are no official branch builds of Firefox yet. There have been unofficial branch builds, though (“branch” and “pre-0.9” threads in the Mozillazine Firefox Builds forum).

Jesse –
Print preview works for me / I haven’t tested printing yet, though.

I am not able to sign into MozillaZine or another forum I go to, http://forums.scotsnewsletter.com.
I have cookies that keep me logged in, but if I have a new profile, I can put my name/password in and hit submit and nothing happens.

I actaully succeded in intstalling the extenstions, but the problem is that they don’t work. Is this what was meant by extensions not working?
April 19th, 2004 at 12:16 am
I figured out why printing was broken for me. I had set my margins larger than the width of a sheet of paper in order to test http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=238725, and I never set them back to reasonable values.

Mac OSX; when I use /Bookmark/Add Bookmark/ and the triangle to show the large window and all nested bookmarks, that window is irremediably so tall that the ‘Cancel/OK’ buttons at the bottom are off the bottom edge of the screen; the window can’t be resized. (Escape for ‘no’ and Enter for ‘yes’ still work, it just an oddity)

In regard to not being able to sing into forums–I have been having this problem with Mozilla for a looong time (since 1.0 or earlier). It is only with phpBB forums, like MozillaZine. You will be able to login if you uncheck ‘log me in automatically.’ Why this doesn’t work, I don’t know. It sucks. It needs to addressed.

The “UI for FTP upload” bug is http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=24867 has been of intrest for me for some time (several months) so we can finally say that there is a ftp upload load option other than Torisugari’s FTP panel extension when a new user asks if ftp uploading can be done.
Nice that it works in the Mozilla April.20 nightly at least.

Will the UI for FTP upload be in Firefox 1.0?
April 21st, 2004 at 3:00 am
We’ll see when Firefox 0.9 is released. :-)
(that release will be feature complete)

I’m not sure where Jesse has disappeared to, but the most annoying of these bugs – 240835 – has been fixed.

Try the “MozJF” build for 4/17. It is apparently built off the branch and avoids some of the more annoying bugs in recent trunk releases.

Where on Earth is Jesse now? Seems that he’s misteriously disappeared.

Jesse come back! What ever you did we forgive you!

Jesse! Jesse! Jesse! Aaaaaaargh!!
April 22nd, 2004 at 7:06 am
Well, he’s posted twice to mozillazine since this last update. I’m getting the shakes, here, man.

Yeah, i’m getting the cold turkey feeling all over :(
I need the burning edge to survive heh

Since I don’t have and don’t need an account on the MozillaZine forums, i’ll post a possible solution to Jesse’s (and someone else’s) request here:
> cdn, can you make it also add a class for the full
> hostname? I’d like to be able to match both
> http://squarefree.com/ and
> http://www.squarefree.com/ with the same rule
> (e.g. .uriid-squarefree-com).
Why not use the CSS3 attribute selectors [class$=”-squarefree-com”]?
April 22nd, 2004 at 3:18 pm
Jan: [class$=”-squarefree-com”] wouldn’t work because URIID doesn’t add .uriid-squarefree-com for http://squarefree.com/.

It has done since version 0.0.5 iirc.
July 22nd, 2004 at 7:40 am
It does from version 0.0.5 iirc.
